'Why composing music to Jorge Luis Borges Poems'

Updated: Nov 14, 2021

Jorge Luis Borges has been, without doubt, one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. His profound legacy has had such an incredible impact on me, ever since I was a child. His genius and unique flavour for description and narrative have given me an intrinsic desire to add my music to some of his poems. Although composing music to such descriptive literature may feel redundant as it may undermine a world of mystery where only words can enter, adding music to Borges's words feels incredibly satisfying. There is so much silence on each word and such a universe of images within a simple phrase. One place where only music and literature, can enter and coexist.
